Wi-Fi on the Go

Once you join the SmartTown (aka: FRC SmartTown) community and onboard your devices, you will automatically connect to SmartTown Wi-Fi, where it is available. This means walking around your neighborhood, to school, or at the park, devices will be connected!

The Farmers Rural Connect Blast router you currently have at your home will also provide safe and secure SmartTown Wi-Fi connectivity for Farmers Rural Connect residential customers. It’s important to note that enabling SmartTown on your Blast router will not impact your connection in your home – your personal network and devices will remain separate, secure, and private. You will not see any changes in the way your service works today.

How to Join

Getting started with SmartTown is simple.

As a Farmers Rural Connect customer, you will receive two emails inviting you to join SmartTown. Passpoint is required to access SmartTown securely.

First email

Create your SmartTown account.

Look for an email from onboarding@smarttownwifi.com with a link to create a password and set up your SmartTown account.

Second email

Install your secure Passpoint profile.

Watch for an email from welcome@smarttownwifi.com with a link and QR code to download and install the Passpoint profile on your mobile devices. Once you are joined, you will show connected to FRC SmartTown in your wifi settings.

Coverage and connectivity may vary by location, and dead zones may occur in areas where there are no active Farmers Rural Connect services available to connect to. Service availability is not guaranteed in all areas.

What Is SmartTown?

SmartTown is a managed, secure community Wi-Fi network built on Farmers Rural Connect’s lightning-fast, fiber-backed infrastructure.

Unlike public Wi-Fi that’s open to everyone, SmartTown creates segmented, encrypted networks for critical users like first responders, ensuring they always have:

How It Works

SmartTown uses the Calix GigaSpire® Wi-Fi 6 routers already in homes to create a secure, community-wide mesh network.

SmartTown FAQs

Will enabling SmartTown Wi-Fi on my router affect my existing internet service?

No, enabling SmartTown will not impact your regular internet service. Your personal network and devices will remain separate and secure.

Will this increase my monthly bill?

No, there will be no additional charges associated with enabling SmartTown on your router. This is a value-added service we are providing to benefit our customers and the community.

What about the security of my network?

Rest assured that the security of your network remains our top priority. Enabling SmartTown on your router will not compromise the security of your personal network or data. SmartTown Wi-Fi operates independently and has its own security protocols in place.

Can I opt out of participating in this initiative?

While we strongly encourage you to support this community initiative, we understand that you might have concerns. Please reach out to our customer experience team, and we will address your concerns and remove the SmartTown network on your router if needed.
